About

Edgar Miller has spent more than five decades as a journalist: copy boy, reporter, city editor, managing editor and editor on newspapers, and newsman, copy editor, foreign correspondent and bureau chief for wire services. He also was the first press secretary for U.S. Sen. Howard Baker. He taught journalism at the University of Tennessee School of Journalism and Electronic Media JEM from 1992 until 2006. He now is a free-lance editor and translator (Portuguese to English). His career as a journalist was interrupted only by a three-year hitch in the U.S. Army.

Miller has been married to Ghislaine Costa Ribeiro Miller since 1958. They have five children and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Miller teaches Portuguese at UTK.
